Technical Overview
Music & Lights believe in the use of technology to improve our service. Computer technology is used to play from our selection of 17000 tracks.
Sound System
We use two laptops for MP3 play out, giving us four players for use at any time, we can utilize up to three microphones. We normally use one cable microphone and one radio mike. These feed the mixer which then feeds both the 1000 Watt (RMS) power amplifier, and the internally powered 300 Watt sub woofer, so we have a total output of 1300 Watts RMS, or about 4000 Watts PMPO! This is feed into two top of the range ElectroVoice speakers to ensure a smooth sound which we compare to the sound of a hi-fi, not the clubby bass only sound.
We have additional sound equipment in storage should even more power be required, and can even provide Public Address systems for fetes and gatherings.
The Professional DJ package that we use is from a company called Visiosonic, you can check out the gossip and get advice at their Discussion Board.

Lighting
Our lighting rig is 4 metres across and can be hoisted to 3 metres high. We have spent a lot of time in the workshop to make the setup of the lighting as quick and reliable as possible.
We have an intelligent lighting system, with up to eight computer controlled lighting heads that cooperate, producing a fantastic coordinated display. We have more lighting in storage, but feel there is little point in overdoing it. The rig can be used either full length or half length, allowing us to adjust for different venues.
The rig is built at eye level and then winched to a working height, all the lights can be controlled and powered off from the control panel, this is most appreciated when powered up during a reception. During speeches fan motors can be an unbearable noise.
We have a number of screens ranging from 4 by 1.4 metres to smaller sizes, these enable us to present a very clean neat front to the disco.
Ancillaries
There is more to a disco than light and noise, you don't want your DJ looking unsightly, so we bring fans with us to keep us looking and feeling cool.
We bring black table cloths to cover the table we are using - you don't want to see a table with lots of cabling under it! Also we bring smart clothing for ourselves. Jeans and scruffy tops are very bad taste at a wedding, but I have seen it happen!
We tidy up once setup, so that as little cabling as possible is on show. Our custom lighting rig helps with this aspect too, minimal cables!
We also supply request slips and pens on tables (venue allowing) to make it easier for the audience to give us feedback.
If your function has any special needs like additional lighting, extended power cabling or even generators, these can be arranged given notice.
